Registration Guidelines The goal of the Michiguide.com Message Board is to provide a forum to discuss Michigan-based radio, television, satellite, and Internet broadcasting on a level playing field. This service is not intended to be a high-drama/exciting message board, but instead a simple reliable place to discuss broadcasting.
To accomplish this, registration for this board requires you to reveal your real name in addition to providing a valid telephone number should questions arise about either your identity or your contributions. You will be required to maintain accurate contact information in order to remain a member of this forum.
You will also be required to be a participant in a discussion. Registrations without posting activity are subject to deletion after 90 days. Registrations that do not have a telephone number along with a first and last name will not be approved.
I am aware that many media personalities use "stage names" in their public lives - these names are perfectly acceptable, and indeed preferred, for use in registration. I have no intention of compromising the privacy of those in highly visible jobs.
You need not be an active member of the broadcasting business to become a participant in these forums. Although there are those 'in the biz' that tend to look down their noses at those not directly involved, I believe that input from consumers and critics of the business does more good than harm.
There are several critical guidelines that will be strictly followed on this service:
1. You must be honest about your identity. Should you be found to be misrepresenting yourself, your account and all your postings will be immediately removed and your IP address permanently banned. This also means one account per participant.
2. You must attempt to handle any disputes with another member directly with that person via e-mail or private message. I will not operate as a middleman to settle disputes between posters. Postings about the personal lives of either members or non-members are prohibited and will result in your account being terminated.
3. Threads and posts not pertaining to broadcasting will be removed.
4. With the exceptions mentioned above, moderation will be kept to a minimum as it is expected that participants will be responsible for their own postings as each one will have their name on them.
